Chinese early childhood educators' views of how to deal with a crying child. This article discusses change and continuity in Chinese views of how to educate children from the 1980s to the present.

This article considers how notions of the self inform educational practices of mothers in relationship to their children (See JSTOR Ethos Vol 23, No 3, p 328 -- access restricted to JSTOR subscribers).

Global Convergence and Divergence in Childhood Ideologies

This article, currently in press, is co-authored by Diane Hoffman and a former student, Guoping Zhao. It discusses the ways in which Chinese traditional notions of educating children are interacting with global ideas on early childhood education.
